Trailer falls on vehicles in Lagos
This is why I always avoid these trailers. They have no control. One of them this morning fell on about three vehicles at Berger yard after Mile 2 on your way to Apapa before Berger Bridge where they sell cars. Unbelievable.

In a bid to dowse speculations in some quarters that the missing Chibok girls have been killed following the recent recapture of most of the strong territories Boko Haram occupied with no sign of the girls, the Federal Government has come out to state that the girls are still alive and that hopes for their rescue must be kept alive.
At a press conference in Abuja today April 8th, the Coordinator of National Information Centre (NIC), Mr Mike Omeri, said that hopes for the rescue of the Chibok girls is still high and that until the military concludes the recapture of all lost territories from Boko Haram, speculations of their death would not be entertained
"The search for Chibok girls continues and that is why even with capture of Bama and the rest, security and military have never relent, and until it is concluded, we cannot begin to believe speculation. I think the one year anniversary is next week, and we hope to give a comprehensive report on what we know so far, and how far the searching has gone. So, the assurance I will give you, is that everywhere is being combed and whatever element we found will be revealed to appropriate authority and nobody is going to keep anything secret.”he said

How I plan to rule Nigeria, Buhari explains to the youths...
Nigerians more than before have come to realise there challenges with the present leadership of the country from economic to border relations, health and safety, security, food and control, education to mention a few. Before May 28th the political campaign rallies for two heavy weight party candidates were one of Nigerians most competitive ever. From social media attacked coming from both side to traditional media discussions and as they canvass for votes. One of the most striking events however was when Gen Buhari of the APC and President Goodluck of the PDP met in Abuja with Kofi Anan amongst smiles, hugging and heavy laughter. Watching the clip of both men having a happy emotional time would keep you wondering why Nigerians are even fighting at all.
Before now, both parties have accused one another at some point, but nothing sits more than to hear from the horse’s mouth which is why www.iamchangeng.org, an NGO which believes in empowering disenfranchised Nigerians and financially supporting youth growth and development took time out to speak to the General before the general elections on youth empowerment, insurgency, security and more. Malama Hafsatu Shinkafi, Founder of I am change got a rare one on one with the General and this is what he had to say:
· My leadership and government of the APC will not be left to a few, it will be inclusive.
· We will improve on agriculture and mining as this will help combat unemployment.
· We will develop a system of education that employs only qualified teachers.
· We will improve and increase support for entrepreneurs through foundation institutions and soft loans so they too can employ others.
· In the area of health, child labour we will introduce think tanks at all levels to swiftly address the challenging issues.
· As for security in the Nation, all security forces will be strengthened and quickly imorived.
Malama Hafsatu Shinkafi is a young Nigerian who is eager about driving change from where Nigeria is to where it ought to be. www.iamchangeng.org advocates the message of constant self-reflection; the act of looking within to change the vice in one’s character and to further acquire great virtues that will aid in having a better society.
What is wrong with a circular artist performing inside a church?
Is there anything wrong with an artist who sings 'worldly' songs to perform inside a church? Some people seem to think so. Mavin artiste, Korede Bello, was invited to sing his hit song, Godwin, at the youthful Harvesters International Christian Centre (HICC) in Lekki Lagos as the church marked the Easter celebration on Sunday April 5th. Korede performed in all three services and had the church choir members as his backup singers.
Now a US based Pastor named Olusola Fabunmi is condemning this, saying the church was wrong to invite Korede, who is not a gospel singer, to perform on their alter. Pastor Olusola feels certain questions have to be asked before anyone is allowed to sing in God's house, e.g is he born-again? Is he sanctified with the spirit of God and baptized in the holy spirit? etc. See what he wrote after the cut and tell us if you agree with him...or not!
Korede Bello is a young man I love personally, and have nothing against him. But it’s written here, that when we chose the way of the world, we have clearly chosen our paths; becoming an enemy of God. Please, there must be a clearly defined boundaries of who sings, and /or ministers in churches. Some of the questions that come to mind are; is he born again? Sanctified with the spirit of God and baptized in the Holy Spirit?
Also, let’s ask ourselves, what’s even the purpose of people singing in churches and Christian concerts? Where purpose is lacking, abuse is inevitable writes Francis Wale Oke in his book; The Power of the Holy Spirit. So I believe very strongly that one major purpose of choristers or Psalmists singing is to prepare the minds and hearts of the people for the word of God that is to come shortly; since we see in parable of the sower that the hearts of men is like a soil, and when the seed (which is the word of God) is sown, one of the factors that will determine the level of harvest yielded is the condition of the soil (hearts).”
I wish to submit by saying that the only difference that makes the difference between church gatherings/ programs and others like clubs, parties is the Presence of Almighty God. If he is not there, we might spend hours and do all manners of spiritual gymnastics, it’s sheer of wasting of time, energy and resources. And the ministers who know their onions do all it takes to secure his presence. But I think today in the word of a very senior man of God, one of the older generation, Dr. Ayodele who said in Houston recently, that churches in this generation has been reduced to ABC… Meaning; Attendance, Building and Cash.

But since this meeting, the President’s wife has not been seen in public.
She did not attend the Good Friday service held inside the Aso Villa Chapel neither did she show up for the Easter Sunday service.

Oba of Lagos not APC's spokesman - Tinubu
Former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has finally reacted to the anti-Igbo comments made by Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu. Tinubu said the Oba is not a member of APC and so can't speak on behalf of the party. Speaking to Punch at a rally in Iganmu today, Tinubu said;
“The oba is not a politician. His job is to accommodate all political parties, whether PDP, APC or SDP. So, what did he (Ubah) go and do at the palace? To you Igbos, don’t we pay your children’s school fees like others? Or is it the palace that pays for it? When we conducted an exam and a spelling competition, an Igbo boy, Ebuka, from Anambra, came first and he became the governor for one day.
“Those that won the competition three times in a row were Igbo. Ebuka was sent to Switzerland computer school and then Obafemi Awolowo University. We did not say he was an Igbo boy and he would not enjoy. He became an executive in Oando and he is now in Canada.
“Another boy, Felix, won and went to Switzerland and OAU. We paid his scholarship; we did not deny him because he is Igbo.”
'It is in your interest that you vote for APC' - Buhari appeals to Igbos in Lagos
Following the uproar that arose from the recent anti-Igbo remarks by the Oba of Lagos, President-elect, Gen. Buhari has appealed to Igbos in Lagos state to bury the hatchet and vote for APC in the April 11th governorship election in their own interest, saying they will benefit from his government if they do so. According to him, all tribes are well represented in Lagos state and there is no Northern Nigeria or Southern Nigeria, we have only One Nigeria. Gen Buhari said this while campaigning for APC Governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode in Lagos yesterday April 7th.
"I admire what your governor has done in terms of mobilising revenue to sustain Lagos development. I have a lot of respect for Governor Fashola for his hard work, commitment to the state and the country. There is no doubt that Lagos is a mini-Nigeria. We are all here and it has been mentioned by previous speakers that everybody (tribe) is adequately represented in Lagos. So, I assure you. If you vote for the continuity of APC in Lagos, you stand to gain more. It is in your interest that you vote for the APC. Please when you go home tell your neighbours, relatives and even the opposition to please bury the hatchet. Let them fall in line and vote the APC. When we were coming in our bus, Fashola told me how Lagos State had been spending to maintain the federal infrastructure here such as buildings, roads and other institutions. I had promised before that if I won the election and became the President, I would make Lagos my priority. Governor Fashola is already holding to me to that promise so I would like the incoming governor to listen carefully and make sure he makes me honour my undertaking.” he said

PDP planning to rig elections - el-Rufai
All Progressives Congress Governorship Candidate in Kaduna State, Malam Nasir el-Rufai on Tuesday raised the alarm that the Peoples Democratic Party in the state has planned to undermine the card readers in order to rig the Saturday’s election in the state.
Speaking in an Hausa programme ‘Barka da Waharka’ on the Freedom Radio monitored in Kaduna, el-Rufai said the party had uncovered plot that the PDP was presently working to undermine the Permanent Voters’ Card and card reader device so as to ensure massive rigging in the state.
El-Rufai, a former minister of the FCT, also said the ruling party was recruiting and arming thugs to disrupt the election.
According to him, the PDP led government has imported armed thugs to perpetrate the rigging of the election.
He alleged that the party (PDP) has sinister dealings with some unprincipled INEC officials in the state to carry out their sinister motive.
El-Rufai said, “We got credible intelligence and we alerted the police, military, DSS and INEC. They (PDP) have been running from pillar to pillar in the name of thwarting the effectiveness of card readers. They adopted using of armed thugs to intimidate voters and carry out ballot box snatching and stuffing of it (boxes) for declaration. They planned to withhold result sheets and other plots.
“They met with some security personnel and seal a deal with them. We submitted all the details with evidence(s) to the authorities. So, we are watching closely and will not give them a chance.”
Also, the All Progressives Congress in Imo State has raised the alarm over what it described as a plot by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party to embark on massive rigging of Saturday’s governorship and house of assembly elections in the state.
Director-General, Rochas Okorocha Campaign Organisation, Mr. Iheukwumere Alaribe, who spoke to our correspondent in Owerri on Tuesday, said the APC was aware of the PDP’s plan to manipulate the electoral process with the assistance of some fake military personnel during the elections.
He said, “We know that, just like it did during the presidential and National Assembly elections, the PDP has decided to use fake soldiers to achieve its devious motives on Saturday.”

Teenager murders cousin on Easter Sunday, blames Satan
Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Abubakar
A teenager, Ifeanyi Ihejika, who has been arrested by the police in Enugu State for allegedly killing his cousin, Izuchukwu Ihejika, has blamed Satan for the act.
The incident was said to have taken place in Amankpunato village in the Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State on Easter Sunday.
It was gathered that Ifeanyi took to his heels after fatally shooting Izuchukwu with a locally-made pistol.
It was learnt that although he was eventually nabbed by the police, reasons behind the murder had yet to be ascertained.
The spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the development, said the locally-made pistol used in committing the murder was recovered from Ifeanyi upon his arrest.
Amaraizu added that Ifeanyi had been blaming his action on Satan.
“The suspect is saying that the act is the handiwork of Satan,” the police spokesman said.
Amaraizu added that the police had commenced full scale investigations into the incident.
He added that the corpse of the deceased had been deposited in the mortuary of Achi Joint Hospital, Enugu, for autopsy.
The command also warned members of the public to be law-abiding during, before and after the April 11 governorship and houses of assembly elections.
“The violation of any sections of the law as it affects the Electoral Act and the elections, as well as the peace accord duly signed by all the political parties in the state with their aspirants, will be viewed seriously and offenders will be arraigned properly in a law court,” Amaraizu said in a statement.
He said men of the police command, working in partnership with other relevant sister security agencies, had been directed to arrest offenders for necessary action.
Amaraizu said, “The command is set for April 11 elections and has briefed its operatives accordingly.”
Ondo police arrest more suspects for bank robbery
The Ondo State Police Command said it has arrested more suspects in connection with the March 26 bank robbery in Owo, with the assistance of other police formations in Edo and Kogi states.
The Commissioner of Police, Isaac Eke, said on Monday in Akure that the suspects were picked up by policemen in Edo State, while his men were trailing the robbers from the Ondo State end.
The robbers, who attacked four banks and police stations in Owo, killed six policemen and a bank manager, before making away with a large sum of money.
Eke said the police succeeded in killing seven of the 50 robbers, while one of them was arrested alive.
He said, “A member of the gang that was arrested is assisting the police.”
He commended the role played by the army and other police formations in the successes recorded so far.
The police also apprehended a kidnapper, who allegedly abducted the Woman Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ore, Mrs. Ayo Adepoju, on March 21.
The suspect, Romanus Ufete, 28, was said to have received N500,000 as ransom before she was released.
Eke said detectives arrested Romanus and another suspect, Akeem Lasisi, who later died of chest pain.
The CP said the suspects would be arraigned in court.
Presidency silent on Patience Jonathan's whereabouts
The wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, has not been seen in public since President Goodluck Jonathan lost the March 28 presidential election to Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) of the All Progressives Congress.
The President had last Tuesday conceded defeat and called Buhari on the telephone when it became clear from the results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission that he had lost his re-election bid.
Some dignitaries including serving and former government officials had visited Jonathan to commend him for conceding defeat and solidarise with him on his loss.
One of the visitors had told our correspondent that Mrs. Jonathan also received visitors inside the President’s official residence same day.
“After meeting the President in the new Banquet Hall located within the premised of his office, I also visited the First Lady inside the President’s residence before leaving. She was in high spirit when I met her,” the former government official said.
But since then, the President’s wife had not been seen in public.
He did not attend the Good Friday service held inside the Aso Villa Chapel with her husband neither did she attend the Easter Sunday service inside the same chapel.
Mrs. Jonathan and the President’s mother, Eunice, had always been accompanying Jonathan to such services.
The last time she was seen in public was penultimate Saturday when she and her husband voted at their polling unit in Otuoke, Bayelsa State.
While many believed however that she must have been too devastated by her husband’s electoral loss to appear in public so soon, our correspondent’s investigation however showed that Mrs. Jonathan might have travelled out of the country.
A Presidency source who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that Mrs. Jonathan travelled to the United Kingdom during the week to sort out some domestic issues.
“She is in UK. She may use the opportunity of the trip to visit her children,” the source said.
President’s wife would come back to the country.
Mrs. Jonathan’s spokesman, Mr. Ayo Adewuyi, did not pick the calls made to his mobile telephone line on Monday.
Adewuyi did not also reply a text message sent to him on the mater.
It will be recalled that Mrs. Jonathan had during one of the presidential rallies she organised ahead of the elections claimed that Buhari would send her to jail if he was elected.
